Never use auto negotiate.. try to buy a switch that you can configure the ports from auto to 100/full. It really makes a big difference. Ask cisco. I can rip, burn, and even play mp3's with not lag just fine with dvd decrypter and nero. I can also have many many ie pages open.. all this on a 1.7 p4.

Now, using Nero 6, I am trying to burn a DVD-R of the image file. I am a rookie at burning. Everything appears to work fine. The image is created successfully with DVD Shrink 3.2. I use the "Burn Image to Disc" option in Nero and after 25 minutes, it finishes and says that the burn was successful.

And the "hardware buffer" meter goes between 20-98 percent, and is regularly a lot lower then when I burn in non-safe mode..when I burn in non-safemode the buffer meeter goes 96-98 non-stop and never below that. Any idea what might be causing this? I can burn in safe mode for now, but it would be nice not to have

Ideal 100 base network speeds are closer to 6MB/s, and that's optimum. Learn the difference between "b" and "B". Good hard drives, USB2, firewire, etc can easily do x4 recording with dvd. Better have a damn good computer to multitask. I built a computer just to rip and burn.
